PRP Hair Growth
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is a treatment for hair loss that involves injecting (or Microneedling)
the patient’s own platelet-rich plasma into the scalp to stimulate hair growth. This treatment is believed to improve hair density and thickness in people with androgenic alopecia (hereditary baldness).
Platelets are a type of blood cell containing several growth factors, which are proteins
that play a role in cell repair and tissue regeneration and improve blood flow to the scalp.
The scalp may feel sore, itchy, or tender following the injections but should subside within a few days.
People with autoimmune conditions are not good candidates for PRP therapy.
Sometimes dermatologists recommend combining PRP therapy with other hair loss treatments,
such as Minoxidil or Finasteride, to improve the results of PRP therapy and boost the hair growth cycle.
Recommended course of 3-6 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart followed by a maintenance at 6 months for optimal results. Factors such as age, overall health, and the underlying cause of hair loss can influence the timeline for regrowth.
Pre-Care and Post-Care instructions:
